2face and Annie Idibia receive N12.6m Chevrolet Corvette Luxury Coupé gift from David Mark

One of the biggest gifts received by 2face and Annie, during their final wedding ceremony over the weekend, was the N12.6m Chevrolet Corvette Luxury Coupé.
The luxurious automobile was presented to the couple right after the wedding ceremony in Dubai, reportedly, courtesy Senate President David Mark, who hails from the same town as 2face; Idoma, Benue State. Mark did not personally attend the event.
The gift comes a few weeks after Akwa Ibom State Governor Godswill Akpabio blessed the lucky couple with an SUV gift when they visited the state for their traditional nuptials. Annie Uwana Macaulay is from Eket, in Akwa Ibom.
Again, there have been strong reactions and harsh criticisms over the very luxurious gift.
David Mark Rejected A Bill For Unemployed Graduates to be paid N20,000, yet he squandered money by giving a car for 2face as wedding gift‘, @HadiMusawa wrote.
But other reports suggest that it might not have been a gift from David Mark after all. Some blogs report that Kola Ologbondiyan, Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to David Mark, allegedly claims the gift is not from the Senate President.
Senator Mark did not visit Dubai for Tiface wedding rather he attended the 128th Inter parliamentary Union (IPU) conference currently holding in Quito, Ecuador. He was also not represented at Mr. Idibia’s wedding.
It is also instructive to state that the President of the Senate, Senator Mark, did not make a car donation of any kind to Tuface before departing Nigeria for Ecuador neither did he purchase nor send any car to Dubai as a wedding gift for the musician or his wife‘, the statement read.
The controversial gift however came with a paper tag which read ‘Wedding gift from Senator David Mark to Tuface and Annie‘.
Who’s lying now?

Inside story of Jesse Jagz’s war with Chocolate City

Chocolate City – Executives and recording artistes. Photo: Chocolate City Group

His statement:
I, Jesse Garba Abaga (also known as ‘Jesse Jagz’) an artist formerly signed to Chocolate City Music label hereby wishes to notify my fans and the general public about my voluntary exit from the label.
After my initial two year contractual agreement with Chocolate City, I do not wish to renew my contract with them and as such have proceeded to continue my music career with my new team at Jesse Jagz Nation.
I still maintain a cordial relationship with the management of
Chocolate City and my former label mates and I wish them the best in all their future endeavours.
Any further information will be passed across through my publicist but until then, have a good day. Look out for my sophomore album JagZNation Vol. 1 coming out in July 2013′.
This comes as a sudden shock to everyone including some staff and executives at Chocolate City but those in the know will tell you this was long expected.
Close sources to Jesse Jagz and Chocolate City tell us there had been an ungoing war between the ‘Wetin dey’ singer and the popular label.
Jagz, one source told SUNNYKISSPRODUCTION, ‘was fed up with the way the label was handling his career and decided to frustrate them in return.’
Jagz last release was his debut album in May 2010, after then he sort of went into comatose, save for his production of Ice Prince and BrymO’s albums in 2011 and 2012 and a few minor releases, we might not have noticed his presence.
Chocolate City have a one-year/one-artiste project run’, a staff at Chocolate City tells SUNNYKISSPRODUCTION.
(2008-2009 was M.I, then ’09-’10 was Jesse, ’10-’11 was M.I again, ’11-’12 was Ice Prince, ’12-’13 was for Brymo, this year’s run ’13-’14 was meant to be for Jesse Jagz).
But Chocolate City signed three new acts – Pryse, Nosa and Victoria Kimani and started concentrating on the last two when they noticed Jesse had started giving them trouble’, our source adds.
Jesse would refuse to go to the label’s studio at Lekki Phase 1, he and the other choc boys M.I and Ice Prince had built separate studios in their Palmgroove, Lagos residence. Jesse just kept making music, a lot of music, over 100 songs’.
Then there were allegedly two strong claims the label made against ‘Jargo’; the first that he owed a lot of money.
‘Choc City said Jargo owed them money, there were several cases where he would travel to the North for a gig and wouldn’t bring back anything to the label. At times, he would claim they paid him just to appear and that didn’t hold under his contractual agreement’.
The second was his alleged substance abuse. There are very strong claims that Jesse Jagz, a truly talented rapper and producer, is addicted to Marijuana.
Everybody smokes ‘igbo’ but Jesse’s own was too much! He would be reeking of Igbo smell when he came up to the studio to hang out. Don’t you see his Instagram photos, don’t you read his revolutionary tweets? He thinks he’s Fela or Bob Marley for Christ’s sake!
Sources say Sola Oladebo, Jesse’s manager for the last three years, is tired of the whole situation.
Sola is tired, fed up but can’t leave him now, he has invested too much time in Jargo. At a time, there was nothing to do as Jesse career was dormant, so when Choc City fired Ice Prince’s former manager in 2012, they made Sola the interim manager’.
We are told till the night of his shocking announcement, elder brother M.I and the other Choc Boys were unaware of his self-imposed exit. M.I had just released his comeback single for his next album ‘The Chairman’ when Jesse dropped the bombshell.
M.I was as shocked as everyone else. He’s not happy Jesse didn’t tell him of the situation first. He has erased all thoughts of leaving Choc City now as a sign to show loyalty’, a friend to M.I says.
An insider told us over the weekend, that the last straw that broke the camel’s back was when Audu Maikori, top exec at the label summoned him via E-mail, he simply replied with two words ‘F**k You’.
Maikori could not be reached and we’re told that following Jagz’ statement, he immediately contacted all staff (including artistes) and instructed them not to speak to the press.
Attempts to reach him and other staff at the label through emails, phone calls and text messages have been unsuccessful.
Jesse’s manager could not be reached for comments as his mobile phone was switched off.
Will other acts follow suit? An insider tells us ‘Watch out for Brymo, he might also throw in the towel soon. He had issues with Vice Presido M.I in 2012, he also has grown wings, you can never tell’.
But there are the likes of M.I and Ice Prince  - two prized acts at the successful label who have publicly assured fans Choc City will remain home for a long time.
Jesse Jagz, 28, signed to the label along with his elder brother Jude ‘M.I’ Abaga in 2008 after the gifted rapper became an instant success with his debut ‘Talk About It‘.
Jesse Jagz in late 2009 went on to release his debut ‘Jagz of All Trades’ which spurned the hit songs ‘Wetin dey’ amongst other chart topping cuts.

Wizkid to return to former music label, EME

If everything goes according to plan, Wizkid will soon be returning to his former music label, EME Music Group, this is according to a reliable industry source. The source revealed to me exclusively that Wizkid and EME bosses have been going back and forth for the last couple of weeks through their lawyers trying to agree on new terms of them working together again.
"Wizkid leaving EME was just his way of pushing the bosses at the label to take him seriously and increase his earning percentage. When he joined EME he wasn't a star but then he became a mega star and was making a lot of money for the label and they still didn't increase his earning percentage so he took a walk. Now they are working on a new contract that will favour Wizkid." The source said
I hear in the new contract being drafted, EME will not take a dime from Wizkid's international deals. When they start working together again, remember you read it here first! :-)

The singer and music label exec is a year older today Wednesday March 27th. He's celebrating with friends in Dubai. Happy birthday to him and many more successful years ahead.

The Forbes Five: Hip-Hop's Wealthiest Artists 2013

1. Diddy - $580 million: The bulk of the Bad Boy Records founder’s wealth comes from non-musical ventures, namely his deal with Diageo’s Ciroc. The agreement entitles him to eight-figure annual payouts and a nine-figure windfall if the brand is ever sold—and Ciroc’s value has never been higher

2. Jay Z - $475 million: He’s still rolling in cash from megadeals like his $204 million Rocawear sale in 2007 and his $150 million pact with Live Nation the following year. He continues to hold stakes in Roc Nation, Carol’s Daughter, the Brooklyn Nets and, more significantly, the Barclays Center itself, while adding new partnerships with the likes of Duracell, Budweiser and Bacardi’s D’ussé Cognac

See the last three after the cut...

3. Dr Dre - $350 million: It's thanks mostly to his Beats by Dr. Dre headphones. A year after selling 51% of the company to handset maker HTC for $300 million in August 2011, Dre and his partners bought back half of the half they sold in 2012—and their investment continues to soar in value due to Beats’ whopping 65% market share of the premium ($99 and up) headphone market.

4. Bryan “Birdman” Williams - $150 million: Riding from his Cash Money/Young Money empire. His roster includes Drake, Nicki Minaj and Lil Wayne (the latter crossed the $100 million threshold for the first time this year, by our estimates, but remains just outside the top five). Birdman also recently launched a YMCMB clothing line and a spirit called GT Vodka.

5. 50 Cent - $125 million: The bulk of his fortune came from heavy sales of his music, merchandise, video games and books in the wake of his smash debut Get Rich or Die Tryin’- and particularly from his payout for the sale of his stake in VitaminWater parent Glacéau to Coca-Cola in 2007.

Tonto Dikeh & Rapper Olamide

Aww Tonto Dikeh is sure acting like a music queen that she is. They met at an event and Tonto told him she is a big fan of his music. Something might just be coming up so soon. You know Tonto never slacks.

Meet the guy who broke Tonto Dikeh's heart

Tonto Dikeh a few days back poured her heart out on Twitter, sharing a recent heartbreak she suffered (See it HERE). I've been digging (yes, it's my business lol) and finally found out the guy who broke the star's heart. His name is Caporahvenwah Okolie, popularly known as Chief Capo (pictured above with Tonto).

Chief Capo is an international model, rapper, singer and the CEO of G-Muzik Entertainment. He shuttles between his home in Atlanta and the one here in Nigeria.

Capo and Tonto have been dating quietly off and on since 2010 after he relocated to Nigeria that year to set up his music business. His mum is South African and his dad is Igbo. See more after the cut..

Don't know for sure what led to their break up but insiders claim it had something to do with 'other women'
"2G (Capo) always has a lot of attractive females around him because he's rich and very good looking and Tonto wasn't comfortable with it and basically couldn't handle it anymore. They would fight all the time about it and she also recently caught him with another woman which is what caused the breakup. I know they are both heart broken and miss each other, and yes it is true he did write and record the song Booski Lover for her." The insider told me
Like Tonto, the G-Music Entertainment boss also Tweeted about a recent break up. Capo is currently in Atlanta cooling off since the break up. Listen to the song he supposedly wrote for Tonto HERE.

How Wizkid was turned into a cash cow by Banky W

Facts have begun to emerge regarding the real story behind Wizkid and Banky is fallout. The reason is not unconnected with the rising sensational singer being made a cash cow for the EME label. An Insider opened up to Entertainment Rendezvous that Wizzy (his nickname) is at war with Banky W and EME because he wants a contract review which Banky W has refused to grant him. The source pointed out that since Ayodeji Balogun known as Wizkid signed with EME, he has been getting just 25% from whatever he gets paid to perform at an event with Banky W. Empire Mate Entertainment EME is owned by Banky W and Segun Demuren and Segun and Osagie, Wizzy’s ex-manager who introduced him to Banky after big record labels like Mo-Hits and Storm records rejected him, also gets 25% each from his hard earned money. “It is true they are having problems and this might just be the end of EME and Wizkid. When Wizzy signed a 2-year contract with EME late in 2009, he saw Banky as his messiah because he was nobody in the music industry. It was a 50-50 sharing formula. Then Wizkid didn’t mind because he was bent on building his musical career. In his contract, Banky W promised to take care of his accommodation, feeding and also his school and based on this fact, Wizkid accepted all the terms of agreement. Later, Wizzy sacked his manager, Osagie replacing her with Godwin because he felt she was getting too much. Wizkid was getting just 25% from every show because Banky W would take 50% while Osagie was taking 25%. Wizzy sacked Osagie because she was not ready to receive 10% which other management companies were taking from artistes. This development obviously did not go down well with Banky W but because Wizzy was close to the end of his contract with EME, Banky gave in. When Wizkid’s contract expired late last year, he wanted a contract review requesting the 50-50 sharing formula to be reviewed to 70-30 but Banky would not accept his proposal. This issue had been dragging since September 2012 and that could have explained why Wizkid moved out of Banky’s Ogudu GRA residence and got a new apartment in Lekki. What got Wizzy miffed was that he was making all the money for EME and was getting less. Also, the money being made was being used to finance the project of other EME stars namely, Niyola, Skales and Shaydee.” Apparently Wizkid’s international fame gave him more confidence to stand out on his own. Riding on this platform, he signed a management deal with Disturbing London, an international management company. Right now, his second Album is ready and it is with Banky W. Wizzy is bent on leaving if they don’t agree with his terms and float his own label STARBOI Records. Banky W may not have given their side of the story but insiders noted that Banky has spent a lot to make Wizkid who he is now. He feels Wizkid is not grateful and has forgotten where he was coming from.

D'Banj, Olamide Record Song For DKM Album

Olamide and D'banj
Dapo Oyebanjo popularly known as D'Banj, has featured young rapper, Olamide, in his new song. The Kokomaster, as D'Banj is fondly called, 'invited' the former Toni Payne-managed artiste to do a duet with him on a yet-to-be-known track on D'Banj's album, De Kings' Men (DKM). Olamide announced the collabo on twitter which D'Banj attested to with a reply. Olamide is one of the wave-making Yoruba rappers in the Nigerian music industry. He burst into fame after the late Yoruba rapper and lyricist, Da Grin, died in April 2010. Olamide presently has an album to his credits. There are indications that D'Banj will release his new album in 2013.

Femi Kut Denies Fatherland: “I Am Not A Nigerian”

First son of the late Afrobeat legend, Fela Anikulapo Kuti, due to what music has turned to in Nigeria, is not limiting himself to be a Nigerian citizen; he’s rather a citizen of the Africa continent. The reason being that, the music he plays is more welcomed and accepted in other black nations and nations where Afrobeat is played and enjoyed than Nigeria. “Afro beat can never die, maybe in Nigeria, but in America, there are over forty to fifty bands; in New York alone there are over 20 bands; it exists in Japan, Australia, San Francisco and other parts of the world. So when you think that afro beat is dying in Nigeria, in other parts of the world, it is becoming bigger and more popular. It does not matter where it originated from, we are all from the same planet, and I am not going to get caught in the foolishness of being a Nigerian," he charged. The award winning Femi Kuti said, "I am not a Nigerian, I am an African. When you understand the history of Nigeria, Nigeria is a colonial structure set in motion by Lady Lugard. So Nigeria is not our name. When you understand the history of Africa, then you will not be foolish to fall into the category of calling yourself a Nigerian. I am an African, because you understand that Africa was divided 1885. When you look at it from that perspective, you will understand that people appreciate the talents that come out from this part of the world.”

My ‘wife’s’ death: The true story –Ekwe Stereoman

When Sunday Osakuni popularly known as Ekwe Originnal Stereoman set out to concort an affair with the mother of his child, little did he know that the relationship would land him into trouble and ultimately into prison. Perhaps, if the musician had hearkened to the advice of the elders to be careful of ‘talent-killing women’, he wouldn’t have found himself in a terrible situation when his ‘wife’ suddenly died. Perhaps. In a rare encounter with TS Weekend, the Delta State-born artiste opened up on the event that led to the death of his ‘wife’, his arrest and detention, and then eventual release. Ekwe also recounted his experiences with his in-laws and how some prominent lawyers had backed him up. Excerpts : How was your growing up ? I was very stubborn when growing up. I grew up in Warri and you know that Warri is tough. There, everybody wants to make money overnight, children inclusive. Everyone wants to wear good clothes and live good life without working for it. I attended four different primary schools and four different secondary schools. After staying in a secondary school for some time, some of us would say, ‘this school no dey size me again o’, then we will leave for another one. I was very stubborn but as time went by, I talked to myself and I changed. Your wife died, what actually happened? What happened was that the woman had a baby for me several years back and we were not together for two years, suddenly she died. The family started accusing me, that I was the one they suspected, that I was the one that killed the girl. I have been out of prison for some months. Right now, I am going out to perform in an event. I’ve always been travelling and coming in since I was left off the hook. I am okay now. How were you exonerated ? We thank the Lord. The Federal Ministry of Justice defended me and I am out now. Aside this, Festus Keyamo was there to safe me. Yeah, a lot of lawyers fought for me because I didn’t do anything to her. They all backed me up in the case but thank God I am free, I have no case to answer. Everyone knew her as your wife, why then saying she’s not your wife? No African man can tolerate a woman who doesn’t have good character. We had separated for long and we weren’t living together for two years. I didn’t marry her legally. We had a relationship and from there she got pregnant. When she had the baby she started claiming that she’s my wife. I am from Niger Delta, any woman that is not submissive we don’t keep her at home. I told her to leave, that I didn’t want her again. I didn’t set my eyes on her for long until when I heard that she died. Then I was in Holland during Easter time. They now said that I was the one that killed her. That’s how the case started. I went there to identify with the sister that this corpse was my former woman. That’s how I got to State CID in Panti, Lagos. Did you suspect any foul play in her death? Something happened and you suppose to feel bad about it but the family didn’t want to understand it in that way. They wanted to kill me; they wanted to put me in jail. What is your relationship with her family? I don’t have any relationship with her family right now because I don’t really care about them. Before her death, when the going was good, how was your relationship with her? My ex always called me ‘honey’. It’s always like that with women but the man wey dey house naim know wetin dey inside. Woman na woman. They will still misbehave. But what you do is straighten her head up. I call it ‘spiritual coding’. You talk to her, advise her, and pet her. I am not too good at womanizing. Elderly musicians have always advised me to be careful about women because, according to them, they have the spirit that could kill my talent. So, I took their advice because they have been there before me. I tried to learn from other people’s mistakes. What about your baby, the child she had for you? I love my baby though it has been long I saw her. They can let me take care of her. They are with the baby. I don’t even know where they are right now. It’s not that I don’t want the custody of my child, but they are fighting me. Why should they think that you’re the one that killed her? I don’t know. Maybe because we are not a couple anymore. They felt I’m the one that killed her but they are mistaking. Even people that marry legally do divorce let alone when you talk about casual relationship. A woman had a baby for me but her character was not good and I asked her to leave, is that a bad thing ? What is the lesson you have learnt from the situation? I have learnt quite some lessons. In life, we learn every day. What happened to me I don’t pray it happens to another person. I have learnt a lot of lessons from it. We don’t hear about you any more, why? I traveled out of the country, I just came back. As you can see , I am busy now by the grace of God, I am going to drop my hip hop and R&B albums very soon. Are you coming with something different? Yeah! Something very different. Just watch out for the albums, they are going to be released by February and March next year. When did you start your music career? I started music from the early age of 17. As a child, I was a cultural dancer. I used to sing traditional songs and later discovered that I could sing reggae. I went from reggae to hip hop and to African dancehall style, that’s how I started. Was there any time you wanted to quit music? I have never had such in mind. I am a fashion designer and tailor by profession but music is my inspiration which I enjoy doing most. What is the source of your inspiration in music? It is my ability and agility. I don’t think alcohol or Igbo (India hemp) and cocaine can give anybody inspiration. It is an in-built thing. You can as well take anything, but for me, I don’t believe in that. Can you allow your child to play music like you? Yes, that’s my prayer. How many women do you have in your life now? None. What is your impression about sex? Sex! If I want to have sex, I can have sex, that is it. How frequent do you do that? It is when I want to do it. Spiritually, sex doesn’t give any inspiration. It is either diminishing your career or… Are you a spiritual person? Of course, surely I am. Every human being is spiritual before physical. What we don’t know is bigger than what we know or see in physical life. Did your parents try to discourage you from playing music? It was a tradition in those days. They wanted me to be good to their own understanding. They never wanted me to play music because they thought most musicians smoke marijuana and live reckless life. But when they saw that I had good talent and the money was flowing they played along with me. What has music changed in your life? I made money and I am still going to make more. I am highly excited that I got talent. Today, I am successful by the grace of God. What is your advice to those that look up to you? My advice is that everybody must respect God and live a straight life. That is all I can say.

Genevieve Rubbished By Producer, Says Her Role Is Insignificant

Genevieve
Genevieve Nnaji is undoubtedly a very talented actress who has paid her dues in the motion pictures industry in Nigeria called Nollywood. When the roll call of top actors is made, Genevieve will unarguably take the top spot. In the adaptation of Nigeria's Chimamanda Adichie's award-winning book 'Half of a Yellow Sun' into a big screen film, Genevieve was supposed to play some roles in the movie but as things stand now, her scenes may be finally yanked off. Reason being that the producers of the film reportedly feel her scenes in the flick may drag the movie backward with unnecessary scenes for the big budget film. Genevieve was put in the movie to play Ms Adebayo, a professor who developed a flirtatious relationship with her colleague Mr Odenigbo, which was played by Chiwetel Ejiofor. It is still uncertain if her scenes might eventually be considered in the movie. For now, fingers are still crossed.
