After thrilling fans in Abuja, Asaba, Auchi, Nnewi, and Enugu, the biggest musical tour in Nigeria, Star Trek moved on to the big trading center of Aba to round up a season of spectacular performances in the eastern part of the country.
The residents of Aba who made it down to the Recreation Centre, Park Road venue were far from disappointed to see veteran Nigerian reggae artiste Ras Kimono grace the stage!
Dressed in all white apparel, Kinomo didn’t fail to impress and wow the crowd with throwback hits that rocked the airwaves back in the ‘90s. The ‘Rhumba Stylee’ singer moved the crowd with such oldies like ‘Sugar for Mi Tea’, ‘Natti’ and other songs and at intervals played his trumpet and guitar.
Pop sensation duo P Square followed with an up-tempo performance with their routine dances with the aid of their backup dancers but the crowd weren’t tired of seeing those moves. The response was enormous as usual. Eastern champ Flavour who had scintillated fans at Nnewi, Owerri and Port Harcourt legs of Star Trek kept the heat with another brilliant performance in Aba.
The crowd however went on rampage when producer/singer and Port Harcourt’s big shot act Duncan Mighty hit the stage. His performance of the smash single and street anthem ‘Port Harcourt Son’ took the show into a climax.
Other high tempo performances were rendered by M.I, Sound Sultan, Freewindz and the BEAT Band, winners of Star Quest 2011, the musical talent hunt contest organized by Nigerian Breweries Plc.
After a tour of eight cities, the final leg of Star Trek will be held on Friday, June 24 and Saturday, June 25, in Lagos and Ondo States respectively. The artiste line-up for Lagos includes Durella and Pulse, past winners of Star Quest. Other artistes billed to perform in Lagos are Pheel, Dr. Sid of the Mo’ Hits crew, eLDee, Yinka Best and ex-Plantation Boiz member – Faze, Diamondz, Wale Waves and Sound Sultan. Completing the line-up are Obesere and 9ice
